We were recently geeking out over The Rocketeer, a superhero character that first appeared in 1982, but was stylised as an homage to classic heroes from the 1930s. His civilian identity is Cliff Secord, a stunt pilot who discovers a mysterious jetpack that allows him to fly and become the titular “Rocketeer”. His adventures are set in Los Angeles and New York in the late 1930s.
In our geeking out, we discovered this Rocketeer animated fan film – which wonderfully marries the whimsy of Disney Pixar’s art style together with action-packed sequences, making this a lovely homage to a lesser known character in the comics and superhero universe.
