Japan, oh, Japan… your unique culture continues to both mesmerise and befuddle us at the same time!
In fact, our reaction to this gender-swapped bishoujo Pennywise The Clown from 2017’s It, produced by Japanese figure maker Kotobuyika, perfectly exemplifies the mixed feelings you leave in us.

On one hand, it’s such an amazing figure with a great design, quality sculpt and clever details like the familiar paper boat in a pool of blood that doubles as the figure’s stand. On the other hand, IT’S FREAKIN’ PENNYWISE THE CLOWN AS A SEXY, CUTE ANIME GIRL!!! It (pun not intended) is the stuff of nightmares and wet dreams (What?! It’s exactly what you’d imagine would happen if you find yourself in the sewer: terrified and… wet).
Pennywise is the latest offering in Koyobuyika’s Horror Bishoujo line, which induces similar conflicted feelings through gender-swapped sexy, cute anime-girl designs:
Beetlejuice

Michael Myers, from Halloween

Pinhead, from Hellraiser

Chucky, from Child’s Play (1998)
Jason Vorhees & Freddy Krueger, from Freddy vs. Jason
Ugh… We’re going of you feel conflicted now: needing to take a cold shower, but terrified that we might get killed in the bathroom.
