#FanFilmFriday: Have You Seen These NSFW Fan Films?

One of the coolest things about fan films is the ability to take us where we didn’t know it could go… even into the realm of not being safe for work (NSFW). The following examples are some of our favorite examples of taking a concept and either turning it on its head or taking it to its obvious extremes unhindered by MPAA ratings (that studios worry could potentially impact commercial considerations of a movie).

We hope you enjoy them as much as we did. Just… ya know, not in the office. (Note: May not be age appropriate for younger children)

Total viewing time for all videos: approx. 65 minutes.

Power/Rangers (Unauthorised NSWF Bootleg)

This is one of our all time favorites! Taking the typically corny (c’mon, admit it) Power Rangers franchise and turning into a dark and gritty version. It was controversial when it was first released, but remains a top favorite for us. Starring Katee Sackhoff (best known for her role as Starbuck in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica 2004 TV series) and James Van Der Beek (who rose to fame in Dawson’s Creek), the version posted here is the NSFW version. The safer version is available here. You can read an interview by creator Drew McWeeny here and watch the making of video here.

Dirty Laundry (Bootleg Universe)

This is truly, as stated, “a love letter to Frank Castle and his fans.” Thomas Jane, the actor who portrayed Marvel’s Punisher in the 2004 film, reprises his role as Frank Castle in this fan film, which also stars Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Pacific Rim). It’s the Punisher as he should be: a kind-hearted, violent muthafucka.

The Laughing Man – A Joker Fan Film

This 18-minute film draws inspiration from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo‘s Joker in their “Death of the Family” story arc from DC Comics’ “Batman.” The film depicts Joker as the truly psychopathic mind-f***er that he is. We first see the The Laughing Man strait-jacketed in a padded cell, being questioned by two doctors. The tables eventually turn and one doctor ends up being strapped to a chair… as things get more graphic and gruesome. Don’t eat while watching.

Mad Max: Road Kill BBQ

The premise is pretty straightforward – in the apocalyptic future of Mad Max, gasoline has become a rare commodity and Mad Max finds himself in a situation where he needs to get some. What follows is some pretty over-the-top gore that could be best described as a live-action Carmageddon.  Chek out the making of video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gb31…

John Constantine: Hellblazer – The Soul Play

This 12-minute fan film depicts everyone’s favorite swearing, chain smoking, perpetually grifting mage, John Constantine of Vertigo’s Hellblazer comics series. Stay through the end credits for the post-credits scene! You can read about how this film was made in an interview here: http://www.fanboy-confidential.com/?s…

Mr. and Mrs. Sith

This fun 3-and-a-half minute video depicts a sexy battle between Dark Maul and Darth Talon in the spirit of the fight scene from Brad Pitt’s and Angelina Jolie’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Gets you right on the edge of the Dark Side, this one…
