It’s hard to believe how good New Jersey’s North Bergen High School’s stage production of 1979’s Alien is! Whether it was the awesome xenomorph suit or the fact that the entire production was made almost entirely out of recycled materials, it was all a very impressive feat. It was so awesome, in fact, that it caught the attention of Sigourney Weaver, who played Ellen Ripley in the original film as well as director Ridley Scott.
Scott was impressed enough that he even offered funding for a special encore presentation of the play – which was held on Alien Day, April 26, and celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original film’s release!
The encore performance is now available on YouTube, thanks to ButtonSmasher (via ScreenCrush), who uploaded the entire 90-minute play in 4K:
Topping off the amazing performance was Weaver’s surprise visit to the school and the production team:
Here’s to the dedication and creativity of these students – and thank you for sharing this gift with the rest of us!
