The Size Of The Internet Mindblowingly Visualized

Ever wondered how big all of the Internet would be if it was a physical thing?

No. This is NOT the Internet.

Well, wonder no more.

MetalBallStudios just created this visualization based on the ratio of a single byte of information being equal to one cubic millimeter (1mm3).

With that, 100MB would be smaller than a typical soda can, while 1PB (1 Petabyte = 1,000 terabytes) would be taller than the Statue of Liberty. All information on the internet in 2001 would be represented by 1 EB Exabyte and one ZB (Zettabyte) in 2020. 1 YB (Yottabyte) of information would cover the better part of North America.

To give you some additional context, according to Popular Mechanics, Pornhub transferred 4,403 petabytes of data in 2018. So, imagine over 4,400 Statues of Liberty-sized amounts of porn being shipped by Pornhub all over the world in a single year.

Mindblowing.
