We’re still a ways out before the The Batman, starring Harry Potter film series and The Twilight Saga movies alum Robert Pattinson, comes out in October next year. However, its publicity engine is certainly grinding away and we’ve recently been treated to a closer look of the upcoming film’s Batmobile by concept model maker Jeff Frost.
The design strays away from the more outlandish aesthetic choices in previous movie iterations and opts for a more simple, realistic muscle car design. It looks like it’s based on a Ford Mustang 1968 and it remains to be seen whether there’ll be more to the vehicle than meets the eye.
That said, compared to previous movie Batmobile designs, we think this one feels a little underwhelming – at least based on first impressions. This “Battinson” Batmobile won’t be The Batman’s only vehicle – previous photos have also revealed a kind of Batcycle, following this theme of having a more realistic approach. We’ll just have to wait and see whether these vehicles – and the film – will wow us once it hits screens next year.
Following delays due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, The Batman has shifted its release date from June 2021 to October 2021. It will star Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Andy Serkis as Alfred.
