Good news for foreigners planning on pooping in Japan! You will no longer have to struggle trying to understand the complex bidet control icons of Japanese supertoilets.
The Japan Sanitary Equipment Industry Association (yes, a real organisation), has agreed to unify the icon designs, so that gaijin will be able to accurately select the option to have their bums gently caressed by warm drying air instead of having a focused stream shoot straight into the, uh… exhaust port.
The new standard icons (from left to right, in the picture above) are: raise the lid, raise the seat, large flush, small flush, rear spray, bidet, dry, and stop.
